2007 in review:
1. Are you excited for the new year? very excited! New year means new things 2. What was your favorite thing about 2007? LSU football 3. Who were your best friends? Jill 6. Did you get a car? nope, just got one in '06, no need for a new one 7. Did you go anywhere exciting? China! 8. Did you have a new years resolution? Doubt it 10. Did you dye your hair? oh gosh yes 11. How much did you change? I grew up. I became an awesome adult. However, it takes backstabbing and a harsh breakup to really push you foward. But having awesome friends and a great family to fall back on helps you move foward. 14. Did you grow? which way? 15. What month was your birthday? August 16. Was it special? 22 isn't something great, but I had good friends to have fun with. 17. Were you in school? Yes, graduated LSU in May. And, I'm a teacher. I'll be in school for the next 30 years. 18. Did you do anything you regret? Who hasn't! 19. Is there anything you regret not doing? Not seeing the signs a long time ago. 20. Was it a leap year? No. 2008 will be. 21. What were you most thankful for? Friends, family, and LSU football 22. Did anyone you love die? No. 23. Did you get in a lot of trouble? not that I can remember 24. Who are you going to kiss at midnight? My Daddy. He's the guy who is always there. 25. Who do you want to kiss? Someone who is not in Michigan with me, le sigh. 26. What is your new years resolution? Never stop being myself. 27. Whose house are you going to party at? Uncle Jeff''s - par-tay! 28. Are you going to watch the ball drop on TV? Always do 29. Will this year be better for you than last? There were ups, and there were downs. The downs hit me so hard that I didn't think I was going to get up. But I did! 2008 will start with me in grad school getting my masters, followed by me buying a house. I have the best job in the world. I am starting the year awesome! In May I will be going to Italy. Life is good, life is getting better, and I am so glad the things that went on this past few months went down. I am Jenny, hear me rawr!

So Wednesday night after work, I drove down to Baton Rouge. It has been a while since I have driven by myself, and it was as boring as I remember. I went out to eat with Brian after giving him his Christmas gift, and stayed with him until Corin and Kevin got off work. I went over to their place, where we then went to Chimes and drank Stella on draft (lots of it my gosh). The last time we did that, we were in London. Oh memories!
Thursday was Brian's Commissioning. I was beyond glad I went!!! Knowing that I was there on the most important day of his adult life was WAY worth the 8 hour drive. The smile on his face when his mom, step-dad, and grandfather put his office stripes on made me smile even more. I am really proud of you Brian. For the Commissioning and for graduating.
After the Commissioning, Brian's family rented out the Chimes party room. It was beautiful down there! It was good seeing friends, and meeting new people. We soon put tables together and told Brian stories. After much laughing and toasting, I looked at my watch and realized that I had a 4 hour drive home. I said my goodbyes, and headed home. The four hour drive was awful, but overall it was worth it.
--------------------
A lot of stuff went on this year. I found it to be a year of growing and learning more about my self and the people around me. I lost the bad ones, kept the good ones, and pulled the best even closer to me. I have become an adult, a person making out here in the real world. I love my job, my family, and the friends that I made it through with. Even though there are things I would love to change about this year, I still stop and think maybe I shouldn't change it, and just learn from it. It's hard, but life goes on.
-------------------
Oh, I have the best job in the world. I love all my kids, and wouldn't change anything. I sometimes think the biggest mistake I made this year was leaving Baton Rouge. But now, after working at CMM.... it was the best thing I ever did. I was voted 2nd favorite teaching at CMM (never won before by a new teacher or a gifted teacher). My class won best pumpkin (again, never happens for a new teacher). Teaching is not just my job, it's my life.
-----------------
Well, there is my update. Now I will enjoy my 2 week break, and dream of Italy in May. Oh yeah, and I am buying a house.

China was awesome, beyond awesome, OMG AWESOME!
I sent all 30+ postcards! You should get them in a week, I hope!
I climbed the Great Wall!
China is very very very polluted.
I NEVER want to eat Chinese food again. That is all I had for 10 days. We got a hamburger today. Yum!
I missed everyone!
Well, I am jet-lagged (as you can see by this note). I am off to bed at 7:00 pm (I have been awake for 25 hours).

"Ms. Gallant, you wear your hair like that everyday. Tomorrow, I'm going to put your hair in braids or something!"
"Ms. Gallant, where are we going to learn more about the pimp?" "The who?" "You know, that guy with 6 wifes." "Henry VIII?" "No, his name is pimp!"
Today was dress up like a character from a book day: Tajh: Who are you? Erik: Well, I was Sycorax from The Tempest. (his hair was a giant fro and he was in a blue robe) Tajh: What are you now? Erik: The love child of Jesus and Shaft! Tajh: They are both men!!! Erik: It could happen!
This one made me all happy: Me: This is my last full week of student teaching, I leave next Tuesday. Student: Ms. Gallant, you can't leave! We like you too much!
These kids are awesome!

Last night was Girl's Night. I haven't had that much fun in a long time. I really enjoyed everything. The company was wonderful! We got to meet lots of new people and had a blast at Chimes East. I think we need to get a table in Michael's section with that group of people more often!
I just cleaned my apt. from head to toe. It really needed it. I found things that were once "lost". So no longer am I "oh gosh, please don't come over to my place". It is more now "come on and all before it gets back to the way it was!".
Student teaching has been wonderful. At time it feels like I am in over my head, however that feeling is replaced by my wonderful students. They are really wonderful. They make me laugh and smile everyday. I enjoy going to Broadmoor everyday. I just wish teachers didn't have so much homework!
Well, that is my small update. Back to the never ending homework!

There was a really bad wreck in front of my place last night. (no one hurt thank God!) It hit the electric pole (after rolling in a ditch). It closed down the street for an hour cleaning it up. Well the pole was split in two, but the power was still on... awesome! At 9:10 (yes, during LOST) the power goes off. I left last night for Andrew's at 11:00 becuse it still wasn't on, I was cold, and I wanted sleep. So I missed Lost, but thank God for ABC Lost online. I will have to watch that tonight.
Ne who.. the reason for this post
Susie, Andrew, and I are going to New Orleans Saturday for day parades. If you would like to go, leave a comment to this. It will be tons of fun!!!!
YAY TOMORROW IS FRIDAY! I love my school, my students, and everything about Broadmoor. They even sent me flowers for Valentine's day (there was a carnation sale).
Well, there is always homework to do. Teachers have way to much homework!

I have been given the best teacher ever at Broadmoor High. Her name is Sue Potts, and she is great. She is teaching me so much, and is letting me do so much more! I make tests, study guides, grade papers, do the warm ups, and I TEACH! Two classes have been given to me. I teach 3rd and 7th hour American History. In fact, today I started MY first lesson, the Cold War.
The students know me now. They call me Ms. G until they got Gallant. It was "ummmm.... Ms.... ummm", or they would just give up and go "Ms. Potts" while I was the teacher. I still need to learn their names. I have a few, but it is hard! I love it when I see them in the hall and they go "Hey Ms. G!". It makes my day!
The kids are amazing! I wouldn't exchange them for anyone! Things are going great and couldn't be better. I love going everyday, even if I do wake up at 5:30am. Life is wonderful.
Pictures of my classroom are going to be on facebook soon!

Good news! I had to call the office to find out, and they told me!
I am student teaching at Broadmoor High School - Honors World History and Honors American History!!!!!!
I am so excited. This is really special because my Dad graduated from this school! He was more excited then me when I told him.
It turns out that my mentor has been out of town doing something for the state, and just got our folders yesterday. I am just excited I finally found out!!!!
Well, Broadmoor is a little bit of a drive, and their school starts at 7:10. I really need to start getting to bed early and waking up early these next few days so the shock on the first day of school doesn't kill me.
Saints play tomorrow! Too excited. But even better, Susie is coming back! Things are looking up!

My mom decided she wanted to go to Dallas this weekend to visit her brother and family. I really enjoyed the time there. Kelia got me "teaching outfits" for Christmas from New York and Company. They are beautiful, and purple! I have purple pants!!
While there, Charlie showed me the awesome ways to TiVo. So cool. He wanted to show me his favorite shows: My Name is Earl, 30 Rock, and The Office. I have never laughed so hard. The Office was great! I really need to get my hands on that show. Can anyone help!?!
I got an email today saying that I will find out my student teacher placement on January 9th (two days!!). Turns out they don't even know where I will be placed yet, and Tuesday is the day of their meeting. Great! They will "call or email me". I hope they are more together during the semester. I also found out that I have to go to a meeting for all student teachers (K-12) on the first day of school (for most people at least) from 8:30 – 3:00 with an hour for lunch. I think I will bring pen a paper and pass notes to Dirk or something. I want to be in the class room now! I am excited beyond belief. I really want to be at Lee High, but it looks like they place a lot of people at U-High (ugh). I'll leave it in fate's hands.
In other news … I am heading back down to Baton Rouge Tuesday. I need to get ready for student teaching and what not.
Well, there is a new book on my nightstand wanting to be read. I have read 4 books over break, and there is still more time!!!

Since I was in Michigan, I got my scores after everyone else. The wait was killing me.... but no more. I PASSED!!!! The weird part is, I did best in Econ on both exams (never have taken an Econ class) and worst in American History (my favorite subject). I really think it is sitting in on a Free Enterprise. class at Lee High (thank you!). So now I am on my way to student teaching and then graduation. Also, it snowed before I left Michigan. Winter break has been very nice! I started out with a 1200 mile drive to Michigan that my dad decided to do in 2 days instead of the usual 3. He did a great job, and drove 700 miles in the first day! I don’t know how he did it. We got to Michigan on Saturday. Michigan has been great. We got to do everything we wanted to do in our short visit. We had Christmas day at Uncle Jeff and Aunt Michelle’s place. Uncle Jeff is the best cook, and makes it all dairy free due to his lactose intolerance. He can make a mean tofu cheesecake. We were able to go to my favorite German town and eat the best sauerkraut. I was also able to send some fudge down to Baton Rouge. Got to love German fudge. We are leaving tomorrow for home. Dad again wants to make it is two days, so tomorrow will be 12 hours in the car. Fun! At least I have my computer and new iPod nano!!! After we get back, mom wants to go to Dallas to visit Charlie and Kelia. So we are going to spend 1200 miles in a car, wait one day, then get in the car again. Then Dad and I will get back and drive to Baton Rouge to spend the night, then go to New Orleans the next day for the Sugar Bowl. I am going to hate the car after that. Oh well, I’ll be seeing the Tigers play in the Sugar Bowl!!! Well, off to watch the Funniest Commercials of 2006! I keep on having dreams about this one person, it is so weird. <3 Jenny

Don’t you just hate it when you say something, and all that comes out is complete nonsense? In your head you have the perfect thing to say, but as it rolls off your tongue, it comes out as goggled words. I had the chance to say something profound, meaningful, wonderful… but nothing could come out. It is even worse when it is one of those situations where you will never get a second chance. No other time to make a full impact on the person you were talking to. I missed the opportunity, it is gone. However, I have a feeling that that person wanted to say something too. New Year’s resolution: Become brave; say everything I want to say. Life doesn’t give you second chances; I have to take the ones given.

I'm back in Bossier now. I made it in about 3 1/2 hours, didn't stop once. Great time! Going Highway 1-90 helped.
I GOT A B IN FRENCH! OMG! I got a 72 on the final, how I do not know! Woohoo! So far my grades are A, A, B, C with one more to go. My last grade should be a B.
Went to Lee High today for the last time. I am going to miss that school so much. The kids are so amazing and I got to work with a wonderful teacher.
So good to be home!!!! My puppies missed me. The birds enjoyed their ride home. They like singing to guys, and they did not like girls singing - including me.
Well, off to spend time with my family and puppies!
